Welcome To Punjab Bikers Club
ORIGIN OF PUNJAB BIKERS CLUB:
Welcome to Punjab Bikers Club, a community-driven initiative founded by the adventurous Abhishek Kashyap, a former mariner with a passion for cycling. Abhishek’s journey began in 2013 when a knee ligament injury led him to discover the therapeutic benefits of cycling. While pursuing his exams in Kochi, Kerala, he stumbled upon the transformative power of cycling and decided to bring this experience back to his roots in Hoshiarpur. He was captivated by the cycling lifestyle and culture he encountered in Kochi, and he envisioned Hoshiarpur, his native place, as the perfect heaven for cyclists. With its combination of good roads, minimal traffic, lush greenery, and challenging climbs, Hoshiarpur provided an ideal backdrop for the cycling enthusiasts.

Recognizing the potential of cycling as a tool for rural development, Abhishek founded Punjab Bikers Club on 26th Jan,2014 & set out to create a cycling community in the Kandi region. He believed that by introducing cycling, not only could the region attract cyclists seeking new routes, but it could also generate employment opportunities for the local community. In the Kandi region, where youngsters often migrate to urban centres or join the Indian Army in search of job opportunities, Abhishek saw the potential to change the narrative. Instead of resorting to deforestation due to lack of opportunities, he envisioned a sustainable future built around cycling tourism in the Kandi region.
Given the presence of Dasuya forest reserve that restricts industrial activities, Abhishek aimed to create first of all, establishing a vibrant cycling community in the whole region of Punjab, Second by attracting cyclists to the Kandi region, he aimed to create opportunities for homestays, local cuisine experiences, and other tourism-related activities. Punjab Bikers Club is not just about cycling; it’s about fostering a sense of community, promoting sustainable tourism, and contributing to the economic development of the Kandi region. Join us in this exciting journey of exploration, adventure, and positive change. Experience the beauty of Hoshiarpur on two wheels and be part of a movement that aims to transform lives through cycling.

Celebrating A Decade of Cycling Excellence: The Journey of Punjab Bikers Club:/BRIEF HISTORY OF A DECADE
A decade ago, on the auspicious occasion of Republic Day in 2014, the seeds of Punjab Bikers Club (PBC) were sown. Abhishek Kashyap and his wife Saran Preeti celebrated the spirit of freedom and exploration by pedaling to Cherai Beach in Kochi. At that time, Abhishek had already conquered a brevet, setting the stage for a remarkable journey ahead. In March 2014, when the duo returned to Punjab, they were greeted with a sight that stirred a new mission within them. Despite the prevalence of high-quality bicycles, people hesitated to ride on main roads or highways. The culture of cycling was subdued, with riders often choosing early hours to avoid public eyes. Many rode with improper frames and postures, without helmets, lights, or rear blinkers.
Undeterred by the challenges, Abhishek and Saran Preeti took it upon themselves to revolutionize the cycling culture in Punjab. The transition wasn’t easy, as they faced mockery for wearing helmets on cycles, especially Saran Preeti, breaking stereotypes as a female cyclist. However, they persevered, fuelled by the belief that cycling could be more than a recreation – it could be a lifestyle.Belonging to the small city of Hoshiarpur, the couple aimed to inspire their community. To introduce endurance rides and a healthier lifestyle, they launched Punjab Bikers Club. The lack of cycling clubs in Punjab cities prompted them to start from Jalandhar, despite the 60-kilometer distance. With a ride on Baisakhi in April 2014, they officially launched the NGO, pioneering the concept of group rides in Jalandhar.
Riding on main roads and highways faced resistance from the cycling community. Opposition arose, with riders demanding support vehicles and expressing discomfort with unsupportive brevet rides. Undeterred, PBC continued to ride, even when turnout was minimal. Early mornings were dedicated to preparation and travel to Jalandhar, sharing ride experiences on social media to normalize cycling culture.
In the pursuit of pushing boundaries and spreading the joy of cycling, Punjab Bikers Club embarked on a historic Wagah Border ride from Jalandhar on 15th August 2014. However, the early days of organizing such rides were met with challenges, especially concerning the concept of support vehicles. As PBC gained momentum, the focus shifted to organizing Brevets, long-distance cycling events that were relatively unknown in Punjab at the time..
The first Brevet in Punjab, held on 16th November 2014 in Hoshiarpur, marked a turning point. Despite skepticism, around 45 riders from across Punjab, Chandigarh, and even Cochin participated. Abhishek and Saran Preeti had meticulously recced the route on their bicycles, setting the stage for a cultural shift in the cycling community. In the era before widespread awareness of Brevets, social media became a vital tool. Saran Preeti vividly recalls tirelessly sharing event posters and information on social media. PBC built a network of ethical riders across cities who shared the mission of promoting cycling in a healthy and responsible manner. Their collective objective was to bring riders from various regions to Hoshiarpur, showcasing the beauty of its routes.Breaking away from conventional norms, PBC organized Brevets in Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Patiala, and Chandigarh. Each event contributed to fostering a vibrant cycling culture in these cities. The trailblazing efforts of the early riders have paved the way for a thriving cycling culture in Punjab, and the ripple effect is visible in the shift from MTBs to hybrids, hybrids to road bikes, and the adoption of advanced materials like carbon.
